As an Owner operator, the main goal is keep yourself employed. Strategically choosing your loads might lead to a better payoff. It not only helps you to earn more money, but you can also build a solid network and strong relationship with shippers.

You are your own Boss if you are an owner operator. This status brings great freedom but, it also comes with financial insecurity. The fear of running out of work can motivate you to take any job.

So here are some tips that will help you to find the best Loads

Use a Load Board:

Load Boards can be extremely helpful in finding the best loads for your  trucking business. Choose the good load board that provides you flexibility to support your unique business needs. Make sure it has plenty of volume so you can have the freedom to work with who you want & when you want with the ability to move.

Build Relationship:

The more relationship you can put in your back pocket, the better off you will be. Once you load with someone, try to do the another. And by the third or fourth load, they will know you by name and recognize your number.

The load is the broker’s main objective. And the more stress you can take off their shoulders, the better you can be on their table for their next load.

Search for more than one type of trailer:

If you are too focused on one kind of trailer, you may miss the loads that go on various types of loads.

If you’re only looking for full truckloads, you are missing the less-than-load (LTL) options. This obviously doesn’t work for everything, By giving it a try when you’re in a pinch. You rely on your instincts every day

Use advanced search features:

A good load board should have advanced search options so you can search by weight, size, pick-up time, and more. This way you can find loads which suits better and your trucking business

Post your truck instead of looking for loads:

Do you perform a specialty service like if you have hazmat certificate or specialize in moving oversized freight. Then make it easier for people to find you by getting your information there. Include as many details about your truck and the services you provide so the right people can find you.
